Great watch with a few minor flaws for me

I love this watch for several reasons, but mostly because it is very low profile. I sleep with it on. I shower with it on. I don’t feel like I’m wearing a watch. The main bummer to me is that it doesn’t tell you the day of the week like most Timex Ironman watches do. Instead it has the month on the display. I would think people are more often wanting to double check the day of the week than they are the month. Another bummer is the timer feature, which I use frequently. The timer options are 1 min, 3 mins, 5 mins, 10 mins, 15 mins, 20 mins, 25 mins, 30 mins, 45 mins, and 1 hour. I would prefer to be able to set my watch for whatever time I need. Also, I have a bit of a hard time reading the time when usung indiglo at night. I have to tilt the watch at the correct angle to make out the time.

Very useful watch

This is the third one of these watches I have owned. I love all the functions, especially the timer and the date. There is also a stopwatch, alarm and pulse. Whenever I'm not wearing it, I look at my empty wrist multiple times per hour. I marked it down one star because the bands tend to break after a while. The last one I had, once the band broke I replaced it twice (11 mm watch band) then wore it until the battery wore down. I was unable to replace the battery on my own, so I took it to a jeweler, who replaced the battery but this messed up the waterproofing a little. So I finally got a new one. It takes a few times to get used to setting it, but then it's pretty easy. I like that you can set the tens and ones separately instead of having to change one minute at a time. The light is handy at night, but use sparingly as it runs down the battery. I have a very small wrist and there are enough holes in the band to fit me, but it would also work for someone with a larger wrist.

In theory this should be a nice watch. I believe mine was defective? I returned this watch and purchased one at Walmart ~2014. The battery runs down fast. The back light stopped working in less than a month. The digital display is interrupted by some internal defect or error code. It is/was water proof. I bought this one to replace a watch that was not water proof. So happy with the color and the fact that it was water proof, I kept it. Not sure if it is still waterproof after taking the cover off to replace the battery so many times. Past the return window, and warranty period. Additionally, the band is rubber and is durable for immediate use. I stopped using mine and had it in storage for about 4 years. Took it back out, had to replace the battery, that I already had replaced; a cheaper watch was still working purchased near the same time (???). It is my suggestion not to purchase this watch. Timex nice try. It is a beautiful watch, my favorite color. I paid $30 for my watch so will expend the price for a replacement band soon. I also bought batteries because the battery will run down. It is possible the batter was just not strong enough. New time test with new batteries 2018. This watch is great for teaching you how to buy batteries, change batteries, etc. for a jeweler you might have enjoyed the purchase. For me, ok, but drag. Timex is a respectable brand. I may try Timex again, but probably not for a watch with a metal band. Keep your warranty.

Could have been a Great Watch

Overall, this watch feels high quality and is completely functional; it does everything I wanted it to do. I believe it will be durable and is certainly comfortable. It has the basic functions of a sports watch and is very simple and easy to use. Some reviewers mentioned the pulse feature was useless since you still have to feel your pulse yourself, but you're going to pay a lot more for something with a heart rate sensor. I happen to like the pulse feature; it's a simple and convenient way to get your pulse. I have a small wrist, but since the end of the strap is secured by the rubber piece around the band (with a notch in the band to keep it there), it doesn't protrude and get caught on things.
I also ordered the Casio STR300 Sport Running watch, and although it is much more attractive (and has more features), it's not nearly as comfortable. Don't get me wrong, this Timex is also an attractive watch. With it's low profile, I wear it all the time: from workouts to work.
Update: I've had this watch for a little over a year now. The face has multiple light scratches, but it's continued to work. Yesterday I wore it to a water park and now the face is cracked. I can't feel the crack, but water is seeping in. I expected it to be tougher.
Update (11/7/16): The crack wasn't a crack after all. The water seeped out and the watch has continued to work. That is, all except the indiglo function. I assumed the battery needed to be replaced (takes more energy for the light than to just display the time). I finally found the correct battery yesterday and changed it myself. This was not as easy as I expected (not easy at all). The indiglo still does not work. The pixel that shows the date has disappeared. Looking for another watch.

I wanted a black watch to exercise and I ordered this one because I'm always satisfied with Timex's Ironman watches. I'm happy, it looks exactly like it is supposed to be and it's not too big on my wrist (i'm a short woman). I really enjoy the fact that all info needed is easy to read on the the dial. Functions are simple to use. There is a start/stop button right on the top of the dial and it is practical. By experience, I suggest you clean it with water after each use, to keep the rubber band in good shape. Because, if you leave sweat, over time, it could break (it happened to me before). Overall, for the price, it is a very good buy. Enjoy !
