Energy - It's caffeine. It's a full coffee cup load of it. Taking HD in a cursory way on an empty stomach you will get the jitters and crash in a couple hours. Couple comments on that. If you do not have a balanced diet meaning already up on a small high protein intake every 2-hours and low carb intake and a complete workout regimine you shouldn't be taking a thermogenic. Secondly if you are a heavy coffee drinker you already have low caffeine sensitivity and should come to grips with getting off the coffee for ~2 weeks before starting a thermogenic. Investigate (google it) matching caffeine intake to your circadian rhythms it will help get the best use out of the caffeine profile of Super HD. On workout days I take it on an empty stomach with 3 glasses of water and head to workout. Non workout days I take it and eat a meal bar or a small omelet behind it. Start with 1, and within a 3days to a week you should be ready to go up to 2.
Diuretic - Yes it will do what you think it will do. I'll go into it with detail so if you don't want to know the TMI of it just move on, it does work. Starting at 1 dose and moving up to 2 you will urinate quite a bit more. Urinating is a game of color. Watch for the color tones as you start to go more. Clear urine is a sign of over hydration. Dark urine is a sign of dehydration. Your looking for a pale yellow to find the balance of diuretic value and proper water intake. Bowel movement is a little harder to judge. It can add to dehydration quickly, it can lead to depletion of nutrients and can impact the healthy fauna of your lower intenstine. At 2 doses in the morning and 1 in the afternoon it has the effect of too much fiber. You will go up to 2 more times a day (normal BM cycle being ~1 a day). The combination of high protein and increased BM from what I have seen on HD is an increase of foul smell, occasional gas and lose BMs. Not diarrhea level but close enough to where you will question if you have completed your BM or if you should sit there for a little while longer. Finally I would say this is something that you adjust to by 3 weeks in and if shifts to back to ~1 BM a day and while urination is still increased, BM is decreased back to ~1 a day.
Nootropic - This is the focus and concentration effect. This is the weakest of the profile of HD. Haven taken pre-workouts if you are looking for this as a primary go try something like White-flood. That stuff will make your feel like you can drill through concrete with you thoughts. There is some focus and determination increase around 45min - 1 hr on 2 capsules but at ~3 weeks I noticed it having little effect or you adjust to it and see little effect.
Thermogenic effect - I noticed a definite increase of body temperature. You will sweat more at rest and feel a little hot like a pre-fever coming on. During workouts you will sweat like your sitting in a sauna. You have to pay attention to dehydration here and keep water intake up. When you start tasting that copper taste in your mouth and your lips are dry your hitting that dehydration wall and need quite a bit of water intake. When you stop sweating your past that point and need to stop your workout, get water into you and let your heart rate come down. Once you are on a good diet you sweat will have very little smell to it, and you should let it run or wipe it back into your skin. Gross sounding I know but it will assist in keeping your body temp balanced. Your resting and active heart rate will go up. Running on a treadmill I see around 158 in a full jog. On HD I'll hit in the 168-172s which is beyond ideal heart rate for me. Pay attention to your heart rate and pulse, and adjust your cardio rates accordingly to keep in ideal range.
Overall - 5 stars for Cellucor's offering. A lot of supplement companies feel they have to adjust their ingredient profile to keep people coming back. This isn't one of those would be my suggestion to Cellucor. It has enough of what people will be looking for in a thermogenic supplement that people will trust it and come back long as they don't fiddle with the ingredients. It is pricey but not out of range with other products in this category. I do a 3 week on 1 week off cycle. Most people say 8 on 1 off but this is what I have found to work best for me (3rd cycle now). Finally it will make you a little edgy beyond simple over-caffeination. Pay attention to that as it may make you snap at the people around you. I like the results and will come back.
I have noticed a few changes in my body with having this product in my system for a week now.
1. My appetite seems to be under control, i don't get the urge to snack as often as i use to. (I'm eating in a calorie deficit so i generally get hungry between meals but that feeling isn't as strong while using this product)
2. I wake up in the morning feeling tighter. I know that sounds weird but what i mean is, i feel as though my stomach is leaner. Like from a side profile, my stomach looks tight and toned. Yeah you can say its because i digested all my food and water weight during the night and thats why you wake up feeling skinnier, which is true and I've experienced that on a regular basis outside of using this product BUT i feel/look even better in the morning now
3. My workouts have been amazing and i have not been using any additional pre workouts stacked on this. I was a little skeptical of how taking my 2nd pill (i take the first one when i get up for work around 6:30 am and then the 2nd around lunch time) several hours prior to my workout would give me any energy, i was worried that the energy boost would have warn off by then but somehow by the time i get to the gym (sometimes upwards of 8 hours after taking the 2nd pill) i still have just enough energy to power my workouts, lasting generally about an hour to an hour and a half.
I have not experienced the one side affect people have posed as an issue, having to use the bathroom more frequently.
As of right now, a week into my month supply, I'm genuinely satisfied.
The conditions I'm using this product under are:
Im eating a calorie deficit (burning off more than i intake), drinking my daily water recommendations, & exercising 6 times a week while using this product. I will update you in a week when i have my first weigh in to see if i had any actual real weight loss results in conjunction with the small differences I'm currently seeing a week in.
I have a long history of documented insomnia that I promise is not actually related to my caffeine intake. (By "I promise" I mean, I have the charts to prove it.) I first used these as stimulants when I absolutely needed them to shore up the "bridge" when I need to live and be productive during the day despite having not slept at all for a night or two, and only ever in the mornings (in place of not in addition to other sources of caffeine). Most sleep aids, prescription or not, make me stupid and bloated and actually sore so if I use those, I need to plan on having the the time to "waste" on a long morning of sleep-aid hangover recovery. Mostly, I just run on 2-4 hours of sleep and it's not an ideal situation but I take what I can get.
That said, I finally started taking my doctor's advice about incorporating more exercise in my life, and these little things make exercising a little easier for me. (Consequently, I sleep a little better. Funny, no?) This is, of course, the product's intended use and it's good at it I'm not aiming for weight loss, though, so I can't say it has any magical fat burning properties, but I'm sure if you are also shifting from a sedentary, unhealthy-food lifestyle they will provide a little extra support.
They are pretty strong for what they are, though, so be warned. If you do have caffeine/stimulant sensitivity even a single pill may be too much, as a friend of mine figured out. They are /not/ categorically jitter free, depending on your own reaction to them, which you'll only figure out by trying them.
