Notes:
Add a second ssd. The ssd provided isn't fast enough for gaming so you'll get noticeable texture pop ups. It's good enough for daily tasks, just don't count on it for gaming. The secondary drive came with a heatsink for the ssd which was nice of them to add.
The ram that came with this laptop was dual channel 2x 8gb which was a good surprise. I bought 2x 16gb thinking I had to replace the ram because it would of been 1x 16gb ram. So if you want to save money, buy a faster ssd.
Heat: I suggest going into bios and setting TCC offset to 10 or 11 so it caps around 90c. Invest in a cooling pad, i suggest IETS GT500 Powerful Turbo-Fan. It's like an AC inside there. You don't even need for it to be turned on, the bottom space gives enough breathing room & tcc does enough so it won't overheat.
Typing feels really nice but the secondary key functions aren't lit which is super annoying. Why!?!
My trackpad (probably just mine) makes a weird click sound from the black paper inside clicking against the metal when I press down. I'm a bit lazy to cut it.
The screen is good, good blacks and can get really bright.
Don't depend on the battery.
Fingerprint magnet.
Face recognition is fast. Webcam quality is ehh.
Opening up is simple but you need a smaller size screwdriver.
The sound needs to be played with to get it right. It's loud enough but sounds weird until you mess with the settings. You have to google the preset numbers.
I thought the gpu would the biggest issue with cooling but it's the processor. If i was confident enough to know how to undervolt i would. TCC is just easier even though undervolting is a better solution.
Thoughts:
I got it because i wanted a gaming laptop and that is what I got. I'm not sure what they were thinking about with the ssd and secondary key lighting but it isn't a super deal breaker. If amazon had a month to month payment plan for every other high price laptop, i would of chosen something else. This laptop isn't discrete and power management is non existence so you can't use it for anything else. So trying to use this for travel or at school is out of the question.
